Long Xianwen proposes suggestions on agriculture, rural areas, and farmers

As of this year, Long Xianwen, a deputy to the 14th National People’s Congress and Party secretary of Niujiaoshan Village, Morong Town, Guzhang County, Xiangxi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, has proposed suggestions on the issue of agriculture, rural areas, and farmers at the Two Sessions for 7 years.

Since 2018, Long Xianwen has put forward 45 suggestions, many of which have been transformed into practical policies and measures. In recent years, under the guide of Long Xianwen, Niujiaoshan Village has developed the tea and rural tourism industries, with the collective economic income of more than 2 million yuan, providing jobs for more than 1,300 people.   “I will lead villagers to step on the path of rural revitalization and propose suggestions for more grassroots people,” said Long Xianwen. He has found some urgent issues that need to be taken seriously and solved by conducting research and visits in many villages and towns. For instance, some rural rivers are slowly running dry, and there are a lot of household waste floating on the river in some market towns. People aged 60 to 70 are still good laborers who can engage in skilled labor such as tea picking, but there is currently a lack of skill training for rural elderly people. Long Xianwen added that this year, focusing on issues related to agriculture and rural areas, he will propose suggestions such as comprehensive improvement of rural water systems, support for skill training for rural elderly people, and support for the high-quality development of Miao medicine in Xiangxi.
